As most of you may have already heard from the TEK9 forums, over the weekend, Call of Duty lost a member of its community. Elrick "breazi" Thuvis Pinas was involved in a car accident on Easter Sunday during the morning and unfortunately died at the scene of the crash, at the young age of 18 years-old.
Elrick was from Rotterdam, Holland, close to where the accident took place on the A4 road, and was on his way home to spend Easter with his family from a small LAN event in Belgium where him and his friend played Call of Duty 4. One of Elrick's close friends from the Call of Duty community, Preston "Pr3z" Jones, bravely told me what happened.
Preston "Pr3z" Jones: "I was with Elrick on Saturday night, he brought me home. We talked about starting gaming again and he wanted to play Call of Duty 4. I told him to drive carefully and I repeated that a few times, he really looked tired. He then went to Belgium to go to a LAN with a friend of his. When he left the LAN in the morning he didn't tell his friend about it, but he told his mother he would be a little late for Easter. Then, on the way home, his car slipped and he came out of the car on a turn and then the car came down on him." Until briefly taking a short break when Call of Duty 4 was released, Elrick played in both the original Call of Duty and Call of Duty 2. He was most-known for his time in clans such as H2k Gaming, suXus and digitalMind, where he picked up several awards for his gaming skills. He enjoyed listening to rap music, and his main interests included gaming and movie-making. You can view some of his work which he produced with a friend here on his web site.
tEkin, haya, nutec, r1k, Pr3z, roEl and various other members of the Call of Duty community will be saying their last goodbye's to Elrick tomorrow, and he will be laid to rest on Saturday.
The parents of Elrick would like to thank everyone who sent their condolences over the forums, and in a tribute to Elrick, TEK9 will partner up with eSports4all and QuadV, and will organise a showmatch featuring some of his old team-mates and other old-school Call of Duty players to be played on Monday 28 April. You can idle in #breazi, in the weeks leading up to the showmatch. R.I.P. Elrick Thuvis Pinas You will always be with us...
